Launched in November 2017,

GamerHaven began as a creative coworking space on East 185th Street in Cleveland, Ohio that centered the concept of ‘Games Culture’. Started by Robert Gatewood, he filled the space with Video Game playing and creating technology with the belief that if people had the access to the tools to create games, they could create anything they wanted.

Over the course of three years, GamerHaven expanded from a coworking space that offered technology and creative support and became a hyper-local hub for the community. People used the space to do work, celebrate life’s ups, mourn losses, learn new skills, reconnect with old friends, and network with people from places and walks of life they may otherwise have never been able to. It incubated a number of small businesses and offered internships to the youth. This growth was in no small part to the core belief in the value of Games Culture.

Games Culture is the idea that people by their very nature play, and that Games of all sorts share real value in making life better for individuals and society at-large. The intentional and conscious effort to see the utility and social value games provide people beyond “fun” is at the heart of Games Culture. It includes but is not exclusive to video games, board games, tabletop and card games, role-playing games and mobile games.

While GamerHaven ceased operations at its former location as of January 2020, its work to promote and utilize Games Culture lives on through partners and in places where the beliefs are shared. Primarily, you’ll find us at the Gatewood Home/Share. We are planning on relaunching the membership-based access to GamerHaven resources in 2022.

GAMES CULTURE
IN ACTION

GamerHaven has evolved to match the goals and aspirations we have for a unified Games Culture.

Taking everything we learned from our first brick-and-mortar, we now provide the full suite of services, support, and education that was previously bound to a space anywhere you’d like us to be.

We are designing programming, educational and experiential workshops, and media that will be shared at the Gatewood Home/Share and at select other places beginning in 2022.

Video Games were our core gaming passion, because we believe if you play and can create a video game you can create anything. As such our offerings reflect this belief.

They include:

  • Video Game Technology Rental for Events

    • Birthday Parties, Karaoke Nights, Baby Showers, Game Tournaments, and more!

  • Staffing and Support for Games-related events

  • and more soon!
